Ladbrokes Laurels kicks off with thrilling contests

The high-profile racing event of Ladbrokes Laurels commenced at Belle Vue racecourse on November 1 with the punters earning big sums of money as three of the total four results went as per the expectations.

The spectators too derived a lot of amusement from the races that were packed with thrill, sensation and aggression.

A total of four Heats made the scene on the opening day. C. Lister proved to be lucky enough as he walked away with two titles.

In the Heat 1 contest, Lister?s Taylors Sky, who was the 8-13 favourite candidate, marvellously beat J. Bateson?s Fridays Daryl by 2 ? lengths to finish first.

The ?100 contest of 470 metres began at 8:13 (GMT). Taylors Sky broke from Trap 3. From the very beginning, the white and blue dog seemed to be sharp enough.

Just a few seconds after the break call, the son of Westmead Hawk out of Rising Angel managed to take lead and then kept his pace intact till crossing the finish line.

Remember, he could not be able to make mark in the final game of the Primus Telecom Derby last month as Loughteen Blanco won it convincingly by 3 lengths.

After his convincing victory of the opening heat, Taylors Sky seems confident enough to make up to the final and win it.

In the Heat 2 race, B. Draper?s Farloe Warhawk had to fight hard to finish first by a shoulder?s length.

After breaking from Trap 1, the black dog could not able to produce early pace and, thus, got crowded. A. Heyes? His Own Business surpassed the 4-9 favourite runner.

Farloe Warhawk recovered soon and ran with utmost strength to take over his rival. The two competed neck-to-neck throughout the time, but just near the finish line, Draper?s pupil took courage and jumped ahead to win. That was a nerve-rending clash indeed.

The Heat 3 game was won by Lister?s Boher Chieftain who broke from Trap 6 and ran smoothly till finishing first by a head?s margin. The white and black dog was the 11-8 favourite.

In the Heat 4, S. Buckland?s Ballymac Denis beat S. Mason?s favourite, Alien Planet, to win by 1 ? lengths.

Thus, all the contests were exciting enough. Now, the sport lovers are waiting for the remaining heats and play-offs to see who manages to qualify for the final game.
